An Everyday Hero Barry Walden

An Everyday Hero Barry Walden

May 25, 2013 was a day a life was changed in the blink of an eye.

A hard working carpenter of 17 years decided to move to Phoenix, Arizona on April 2nd, 2013, not knowing his whole life would change in one short month, not knowing he would be 4 million dollars in debt for hospital bills and his whole life would be changed.

Barry decided he wanted to take a four day weekend break and ride his motorcycle up north for the weekend. Heading up north on I-17, around the New River exit, a man and a woman were driving an unhooked truck towing a freight (not sure what that iand decided to make an illegal U turn. The couple was not paying attention or thinking of the riders and drivers around them, while making this U turn.

Barry saw them and thought he had enough time to turn, and avoid them. He was wrong. He hit the tailgate, shot up over the truck, and had his leg pinned to the engine of the motorcycle. The driver of the truck drove away, but fortunately another pedestrian stopped and called the police. The driver told the police some impossible story that didn’t make conform to the evidence at the scene of the accident. The police only cited the driver for a couple of citations. Even worse, he couple never even apologized to Barry for changing his whole life.

Barry was transported to John C Lincoln Hospital for the injuries: a broken leg, compound fracture to tibia and fibula, a shattered hip, broken his pelvis, every rib broken, a broken right hand, a broken jaw, and a fractured cheek. He had to receive a tracheostomy tube to breath. The second week that Barry was in the hospital, more life threatening issues came his way, like he didn’t have enough. The nurse that was taking care of him did not properly care for Barry and he had received a CDEF and colon Infection. Due to this, Barry had to have his intestines and colon removed, but then the infection spread to his leg. Barry had to make a tough decision and have his leg removed. When all was said and done, one careless driving moment and improper attention from the nurse became 78 total surgeries, 74 trying unsuccessfully to save his leg.

Barry could only think about recovering, getting his motorcycle fixed and entering it for Bike Week. A Bike Week trophy would epitomize his hard work, and celebrate that he is alive and living his new life. With all custom parts to fit his new leg, Barry rides his 2008 flat maroon new custom street glide. The roads of life are endless, and you will never know when or where Barry will show up.

He quotes " You can't change what happens yesterday, all you have is today! Make great of what you have!" He is doing just that, with a great support system from his friends and family. Now Barry is dedicated to helping others lives and providing that same support. He wears shorts to show off his prosthetic leg, He tells people his story, and will gather people around and remove his leg to show that they can overcome adversity. He provides comfort, hope, inspiration and the courage required to avoid traveling down a dark path and how to survive a dramatic life changing event.

Tattoo Nation is more acceptable now then 8 years ago

Who are you? People are telling there stories about life through the tattoo's that they are putting on their bodies. By putting their trials and errors on their bodies as a story board either for them selves as a reminder or for the world to view there world!
Tattoos use to be a sign of a rebellion. The middle finger, salute to the rest of the world! Outlaw bikers got tattoo's, Sailors and lifers in jail got tattoos, but now forty percent of the world has tattoos. Ages ranging from 26 to 40 yrs. of age.
Just a century ago it was unthinkable of you to get a tattoo and now its just a huge Tattoo nation!
Just not that long ago, tattoo's where frowned apone. They were Illegal! Despite growing popularity tattooing is still illegal in some states.
In 1960's getting a tattoo was a secret, now getting a tattoo is not much of a secret. Women and Men are all exposing themselves and receiving a lot of attention. Tattoo's popularity started in the 60's and 70's with the California Culture sense.
The California's took trend and subverted it as a social branding. Now people all over the world as took to this trend and accepted the permanent story boards. But whatever tattoo researcher's has shown that it's profoundly alter the way in which you will be perceived!
Adults with Tattoos have been shown to be more likely to be more sexually active, to engage in riskier behavior, to have stronger self esteem and body confidence and to be thrill seekers!

Shannon Reichlet Running for the Love

Almost Five Years ago Shannon Reichelt Started running Disney Marathons while her husband and Hero Jeff Reichelt  was Deployed in Afghanistan with the Army. There are many obstacles of having a husband deployed, especially emotional stages. With lots of time on Shannon's hands she also like to repair items in her home while preparing her goals for the next Marathon run. Where will Shannon go off to Next? Disneyland or Disney World?

Training for a marathon is more work that what you would think of. So much training and preparations to Complete a marathon successfully. A marathon is an achievement that you can work towards. Shannon's Sister is who introduced the love and fun of the marathon's. Shannon's passion of bling and the love of medals also drew her closer to participating her fist race four years ago.

Participating in a marathon with the right training plan and determine attitude, which Shannon has, you will achieve your goal! I have never met a more cheerful person with an awesome attitude before understanding Shannon's missing Jeff. I don't think I could be as determined as Shannon to Win as many medals as she has won! Which I believe Shannon has over Ten medals.
A few of the medals are
  •  Princess Half Marathon (Disneyworld)
  • Disneyland Half Marathon (Disneyland)
  • Coast to Coast (Disneyland)
  • Inaugural Tinker Bell Half Marathon (Disneyland)
  • Tinker Bell Half Marathon (Disneyland)
  • Wine and Dine Half Marathon (Disneyland)
  • Coast to Coast Tinker Bell (Disneyland)
  • Gladiator 5K
Shannon has Several of same kind of maybe a different year of participating.

Naturally Jeff Shannon's husband offered to assist Shannon in her training as her running coach, sense he is required to train for the Army, Jeff is deployed so Training by herself or with her sister is a must. The training and the marathons must go on! It is a long road filled with encouragement, blisters, sweat, and tears, But Shannon knows it is worth ever minute.

As Shannon hike's four times a week and run's three times a week. Running a grand total of  fifteen to twenty miles a week. Morning's at the gym, Dieting high fat, low carbs, and moderate proteins, Shannon has lost over 50 pounds with all these training methods. The Ketogenic diet consist of forcing the body to burn fats rather than the carbohydrates. A high fat - low carb diet produces more ketone, rather than glucose, giving the brain a more energetic boost. Protein Bars and almond butter are foods that Shannon eats a lot of, as well as drinking two gallons of water a day. For Shannon it is easier to stick to the diet than it is to keep up with her training.  Shannon's favorite unhealthy food is refried beans, rice and loves dark chocolate in the 90-100% range. Shannon's Next Race and the awaiting of Jeff returning is what keeps her on track. Shannon keeps setting up Marathon after Marathon and hope that one day it will become a family event.

Steps to do to prepare yourself for a marathon.
  • Achieve a base fitness level
  • Purchase running gear and appropriate for running training.
  • Adapt a running style.
  • Get started
  • Consider joining a running group or club.
  • Enter your running race.
  • Move on to a half marathon. 10k to 21km
  • When you feel comfortable with running and providing yourself consider committing to a full marathon.
  • Settle on a marathon training program.
  • Be aware that other people and events are likely to be impacted by marathon training also.
  • Prepare yourself mentally.
  • Make dietary choices in days prior to marathon.
  • Run your marathon.
  • Plan for after marathon.
  • Stay Motivated
  • Finish the race
  • Have Fun
Here is also a list of Disney Run Marathons
  • Walt Disneyworld Marathon Training Programs
  • Walt Disneyworld half Marathon
  • Walt Disneyworld 10k Marathon
  • Walt Disneyworld Goofy's Challenge
  • Walt Disneyworld Dopey's Challenge

Shannon will be receiving tattoo's as soon as she completes her goals of Marathons. On each ankle she would like to get the distance of a half and a full Marathon 13.1 and 26.2.

My Day With Kendra at AZ Bike Week

I had met Kendra through a friend. I had posted on Facebook looking for a model and my friend said he had a perfect girl for me. So they had met me at Hogs and Horses in CaveCreek AZ. I was really excited for them to come because I found a cool ass Vendor that built Lamps out of Motorcycle Parts. His company is Coffin Made. I loved his work and he had these two motorcycles that he had built, so I thought it was perfect for a model to show off his stuff! Here came Kendra, She is a waitress at Dirty Dogg Saloon. I was very happy of this and thought I had something.
But then when i finished the beautiful shoot and should the others that make the magazine I work for, they told me they can not use the pictures because of the kind of motorcycles they were. WHAT !!!! are you kiddin me. I thought I worked for a motorcycle Magazine? yeah well I guess we dont put imported motorcycles in our magazine. What the hell!!! I wished I would of known that at the time, I would of not wasted my time with that then. See this is where i wished I would of known the difference between motorcycles. to me if it has two wheels it is a motorcycle! I had walked around the whole Cavecreek festival and found the same baggers and same motorcycles nothing that made me go WOW, but this vendor Coffin Made did make me go WOW! So Here are a few shoots from the shoot I just think it need some form of publication so that's why I am putting on my blog.
When the magazine was published I did find out they used one picture out of the shoot for the event pages of AZ Bike Week. But still I thought it would of been a wonderful layout and Cover!!!!!
